Spectral characteristics of the black hole binary 4U 1957+115: a multi mission perspective

چکیده
ABSTRACT We report spectral analysis of the persistent black hole X-ray binary, 4U 1957+115, using AstroSat, Swift, and NuSTAR observations carried out between 2016 2019. Modelling with a disc emission, thermal Comptonization, blurred reflection components revealed that source was in high-soft state flux ∼87 per cent total high-energy photon index ∼2.6. There is an evidence either inner radius varied by ∼25 or colour hardening factor changed ∼12 cent. The values imply for non-spinning hole, mass < 7 M ⊙ located > 30 kpc away. On other hand, rapidly spinning would be consistent more plausible 10 distance ∼10 kpc. Fixing to relativistic accretion model, constrained 6 M⊙ inclination angle 72°. A positive correlation detected rate radii equivalently factor.

The Spectral States of Black Hole X-ray Binary Sources
A framework for the interpretation of the spectral states of black hole X-ray transients based on the diversity of accretion disk models is introduced. Depending on the mass accretion rate, it is proposed that the accretion disk is described by one or a combination of the following structures: optically thick disk, advection-dominated disk, corona-disk, and non-steady state disk. In particular,...

We discuss a new N-body simulation method for studying black hole binary dynamics. This method avoids previous numerical problems due to large mass ratios and trapped orbits with short periods. A treatment of relativistic effects is included when the associated time-scale becomes small. Preliminary results with up to N = 2.4×10 particles are obtained showing systematic eccentricity growth until...

www.physicstoday.org After decades of effort, numerical relativists can now simulate the inspiral and merger of two black holes orbiting each other. That computational triumph has come none too soon—physicists are on the verge of detecting gravitational waves for the first time, and at long last they know what to look for. Black holes are strong-field objects whose properties are governed by Ei...

Abstract We study parameter estimation with post-Newtonian (PN) gravitational waveforms for the quasicircular, adiabatic inspiral of spinning binary compact objects. In particular, the performance of amplitude-corrected waveforms is compared with that of the more commonly used restricted waveforms, in Advanced LIGO and EGO. With restricted waveforms, the properties of the source can only be ext...

I overview the current understanding of the evolution of massive black hole (MBH) binaries in the center of the host stellar system. One of the main questions is whether the stellar dynamical effect can make the MBH binary hard enough that they can merge through gravitational wave radiation. So far, theories and numerical simulations suggested otherwize, since the hardening timescale becomes ve...
